Beware closeouts and item liquidations if you plan to sell these items on eBay. The reason? Its simple, there is a reason those items are being liquidated. There are several common problems to avoid when buying items advertised as having closeout prices. First many of these items are still selling above the price you will find them for on eBay. Many stores that are liquidating take away all of the discounts that are normally built into their product prices and then take a markdown of twenty to thirty percent and call it a closeout price. If you are purchasing the product for yourself this is usually, not a big issue, but as the flood of those products hits the eBay market, you may find yourself holding inventory for an extended time.
When you are buying products from a store that is liquidating as they close up shop, you are taking a major risk. If for some reason the product has some type of a defect and the eBay buyer is not happy, you will likely have no ability to return it and will have to eat the loss or risk a drop in reputation. Simply put, it is often better to purchase your items from a supplier that offers reliably good prices and that you know is in it for the long-haul. Even if you have to purchase these items at slightly higher than liquidation prices, you can rest assured your customers will be happy and you will continue to profit in the eBay marketplace.
